> Don't try and become popular
Sunday, March 6, 2022
The one thing I think I understand is, to be wildly successful don't do what everyone else is doing. It works if you want to have a comfortable life, like becoming a doctor, but if you wanna really stand out (forshadowing), don't do things other people are doing.
People today as obsessed with trying to become famous, and it has never been more within grasp. Social validation is a powerful engine, it can make people do irrational things. The reason why I think this is not something you should try and do is because it's the wrong goal to have. Becoming famous should always be a side effect, not the goal. You become famous because you do something amazing, you don't become famous because you were trying to be. Its an empty pursuit. It means nothing. What people really want, I think, is validation and acceptance. I think making good friends is a much better approach to that.

> The Next 10 years of youtube
Sunday, March 6, 2022
I love learning. And hence I love watching youtube. It has more for me than I can even consume. I once tried to be a content creator. So, I have spent a lot of time thinking about the next 10 years of youtube. And these are my thoughts.
I think the audience is gonna get intelligent. People will no longer watch mindless content. It won't be obsolete, people will still watch it a little, but it will no longer be the dominant domain. People are going to want to learn from smart people, people who know things. People with experience and knowledge. You can expect to see a rise of smarter creators. By this I mean, the amount of 20 years old college dropouts on youtube is gonna go way down in terms of the percentage to their content being watched. People are going to want to listen to doctors, engineers, accountants, directors, investors and other people who aren't as frequent these days. And not everyone who is one of these will be successful, you have to be good at what you do for people to listen to you. This is not school, your audience has an option to leave.
> This is how you start a business
Monday, February 28, 2022
I think the process to start a business has been overcomplicated, I know this because I have spent a lot of time going through all the literature and podcasts and basically anything you can think of. And after doing all of that, understanding all of that I have come to the following conclusion. That is all fluff. Like most of self-help that is what you will learn automatically when you run your company. This is something people get wrong with Stoicism as well, they think once they go, "Okay, now I am a stoic, nothing can hurt me", nothing will hurt them or make them feel bad, this is not true. Through experiences you will learn qualities of stoicism, and then you become a stoic. Think of it like enlightenment. You can't declare you are enlightened.
This is what is boils down to :
1. To have a successful business people have to pay you money
2. For people to pay you money they must believe that they are getting the better end of the deal, meaning you must provide more value than the relative value of the money you take.
3. How do you do that? Make something people will pay for. Simple as that.
4. How do you know people will pay for it? Ask them to pay for the product. If they say no, you don't have anything.
5. Even if it a free product see if people will pay for it, if they won't pay for it then they won't use it even if it is free, because there seems to be no perceived value of the thing you are working on
6. People pay to get capital. Social, financial, time. Simple as that. Provide them this capital at a bargain and you will have a good business.
7. How do you find things people want? Observe. They will already be doing what you want them to do but in a hacky way.
8. Build something so that people don't have to hack together stuff, and bam you have a business.
9. The more they struggle and invest time into the hack the bigger the opportunity
I tried starting a business based on all the advice and things, but after I shut that down, I realised I never had anything to begin with. The problem I was solving was worth solving but the users didn't want it so it doesn't matter. Simple as that. They weren't using a hacky way to do the same.
I don't need to write anymore. This is it, you have now learnt how to have a successful business. Go build something now, you will learn everything else on the way.
